This spring, we are thrilled to welcome four interns Seeking MORE with us. We are getting to know them through their writing and learning how they will be Seeking MORE this semester.

My name is Lauren Lukitsh and I am a senior at Butler University studying Art History with minors in Museum Studies and Photography. After I graduate, I plan to move to Chicago with my partner and our one-eyed cat, Puddle, to start my career in The Windy City.

Throughout my life, I have been deeply invested and interested in promoting sustainability and philanthropic efforts in my community. This passion has grown significantly during my high school and college years. I began working closely with my high school to be more conscious and aware of the environment and the overall waste problem perpetuated by the food and fast fashion industries. Fast fashion is unsustainable and its unethical nature is my current sustainability focus for my college community. College students can be less mindful of their impact and involvement in our environment because convenience is unsustainable.

As a member of the Alpha Chi Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega (AXO) at Butler University, I have contributed significantly to our philanthropy efforts that directly serve The Juliens Center in Indianapolis. The Juliens Center, founded in the 1970s, is the largest Indiana organization that supports victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other major life crises. Throughout my time in AXO, I have grown to love this organization and the work they do to serve their communities.I have been honored to work directly with them to advance their mission. From volunteering at Thrifty Threads, a second-hand clothing store, to raising money and awareness with my sorority, helping to serve and work with the Juliens Center has been a passion of mine since I moved to Indiana in 2021. AXO focuses on how we, our passion, motivations, and what makes us uniquely “Real Strong Women”. This connected with MORE’s mission and ideals, allowing me to work closer with this organization.

Learning about MORE through my peer, Sophie Wang, opened my eyes to the opportunities available to me. I have wanted to be involved in organizations that not only aligned with my values as a person but also exhibited qualities I wanted to develop. My goal is to work in a museum space and create an experience that is loved by all people. I want to ensure a safe space and through my passion for art, create a place that fosters growth, creativity, and endless possibilities. By being a part of the  MORE team, I hope to learn these skills and grow in my abilities to help enable me in my future endeavors to be full of inclusivity, and alternative perspectives.

Seeking MORE for myself means a multitude of things to me. Through my growth in a team space, I am eager for us to learn together more about ourselves and the differing backgrounds and experiences we bring to the table. As someone with a passion for art, I hope to grow my creativity while in this internship and enable and work with a wide variety of viewpoints that will further deepen my knowledge of how I would be able to succeed in an inclusive workspace in the future. MORE, with its foundation with strong women, connects to my roots within my sorority as I try to grow as a real strong woman to be the best version of myself for my career, life, friends, and family as a whole. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity to continue seeking MORE for myself during this semester.
